The Face to Face program was created out of the understanding that the state of Israel contains two nations that are in the midst of a long, drawn-out conflict, and that the ramifications of this conflict are harmful to both sides – the Arab minority (Palestinian Israeli citizens) and the Jewish majority. A vast majority of both populations harbor a hidden aspiration that the conflict will be resolved by the disappearance of the other side. We believe that such hidden hopes are unrealistic and undesirable fantasies that have led to a reality of alienation and violence. Our aspiration, through encounters between youth of both sides, is to create the basic conditions for dialogue on the basis of the acknowledgement that the fantasy is indeed a fantasy, and that reality obliges the construction of areas of agreement based on the long-term interests of both sides. Only in this way can we assure the democratic character of the State of Israel in the long term
